Sorry la so busy with the moving in and unknowingly had a few visitors thus by e end of the day, i LEPAK. Tonight ok promise.

A whole new world-home

Nothing is more gratifying then opening the doors of your new home.

I was so excited i literally drew up like a floor plan for the reno works, i tell you i need to stop it.

A did the honours of meng-azankan rumah and i sat down just looking and listening at how nice his voice was when he was not annoying the beezeezus out of me.

So moving forward, we had a good 4hrs earlier today just lazing around eating packed food and enjoying the serenity of our new abode. It was a quiet neighbourhood. There was a lot of shops and eateries around which i LOVE. Eh there is also a wet market like 5mins walk away which i was super excited on. Must masak very important ah.

So tmr i gotta go down for the gas and utilities activations and what not and i have Siti to teman me which is always fun! Also need some scrubbing that house, berahabok kaki i.
Other than that, nothing much la kan.

Just taking it all in, one panic attack at a time. :)

Memory of a lost and start to a new beginning.

12 January 2015.

Today was supposedly my EDD.

I would have probably be like over 39 weeks pregnant or maybe, just maybe, already given birth. 

Not here to moan mine and A's lost but it sure taught us to be so so supportive of each other.
We never talked about it, yet deep inside, whenever we chanced across a pregnant lady or a father carrying his baby, sometimes i do see the yearn in A's face and it kills me more than anything.

Yes, i had a misscarriage last June.
I was bleeding so much at work i thought i was going to pass out. But right there and then, i knew i lost the baby.

Was it painful. Yes.
Was it expected. No.
Did it hurt. More than anything.

I never really talked about it neither did i push it away. I guess i wasnt ready and part of me feels so so ashamed.
Not to my mum, not even my aunts or nenek.
Did had this conversation with Siti and Baby but thats it.

People do not seem to understand when they say its ok because obviously, it is not.
I remembered trying so hard not to cry every night to sleep because i didnt want A to know how much damage it costs me. At the same time, i didnt want to make him feel any less. Of course i played an open facade and overtime, it gets better.

I dont know you readers on whats your take on misscarriage but to me, its not only about loosing your baby, it is also a death. I believe every baby should have a chance to take their first steps.  And it kills me even typing this but ey, i am ok now and i am sure, insya allah, one day, me and A will be blessed with a baby of our own.

I didnt get to see your face, hold your tiny fingers or have you wrap around my arms, but at least i had you, even if it was for a short while.

I am actually very bored whilst waiting for A to finish work later for our date night and also accompanying him watch his 12am man u game.

Spring cleaned our room, figuring it would take me at least 4hrs, but i got tired in between so i made do with just changing the bedsheets and sapu n mop la.

So as you can see from the title of this post. Projek rumah!

Excited lah. Who wouldnt be. First time home owners. Tu pun ade jugak org yg ckp kite ni action dpt rumah pun nak kasi satu dunia tahu. I have to control myself from swearing out loud but really, nothing is a competition and we should all be happy for each other.
So just take a second and say alhamdulillah for all the things we have now, because it is nothing, but a loan.
So pls stop all this nonsense. Lets all be happy ok?

I actually wanted to share with you guys on my journey with A towards getting that key for our new home. Which! Is tmr btw.!!!!

See, i am lucky to actually have my mum, who is a single mum btw to own a house of her own so i didnt really had a rush to buy a house or move out persay.

So when we decided to just give it a shot to apply for the HLE loan last march, we were pretty suprised that that amount was in so much comparison to was before in 2009. See the amount that was approved for us back in 09 was 147,000. Yes, THAT. Which wasnt even enough to buy us a 3room flat. Partly because both of us just changed to a new job and though our salary was above 3, HDB didnt care of course. They rely much on the consistency of monthly contributions for at least 6mnths-1yr. 

Thus when we tried a second time last March 2014, we were in disbelief that the approved loan was actually 480,000.
And lucky enough for us, A had a friend back in brunei who is a property agent and his profile is amazinggg.

Back and forth, we suddenly found ourselves going for viewings. We went for a total of 15houses and we actually fell in love with the last one. We werent actually attracted to the design or what was present during the viewing. When i go into the house, what i see is what i could visualive my house to be. So i fell in love instantly. It was a good aura.

So back to the house. We will be getting our keys tmr. It wasnt a long wait as we only started our search in june and unlike other couples who are moving in right after, sadly we are not!!! Boohoo. But its ok. Always an investment like A says. It will be worth the wait.
So which is why #projekrumahAidilxxDya will kick start right about now. I will be sharing with you guys my journey to having and building my dream home, just like how I did during my wedding. It will only be about cost saving ideas and knickknacks, and DIY of course! Im all about that. Bukan Im all about that bass eh. No treble.

So speaking of earlier that i was gonna do spring cleaning right? I had to post it.

Next trip due in March

You know.

Me n A make it a pact that we have to go on short trips every 3months since after we got married. And it seems to happen diligently.
More so, we will always have somewhere to go and something to shop or a new thing to do. Prolly just reasons to leave SG no?

See, its not about wasting money or saving it for low times. We dont really spend that much on a trip. We really are budget travellers and im proud to say that we always always make it work.

See for example, our recent bangkok trip cost us 700 for flight, accomodation, and shopping. N bear in mind this includes his 18set of jerseys which he hauled for his soccer team. What soccer team? God dont make me start on that.

And even with that budget, i didnt feel like i had to curb my apetite or witheld from purchasing smtg that i really love. I basically bought what i wanted.

Which brings me to this, travelling. I Love love to travel. But for now, me and A are probably hitting more to cities in Asia because there is sooo much to see and do.

We have vietnam and cambodia in mind for our next trip in March and A is currently doing what he does best, researching for cheap flights and deals. No we are not cheap, we are prolly smarter. Yes we are.

Cause you know, if you wanna travel like the rich and famous and travel in style, you do it all the way yes? Sikit sikit cam tak payah la kan. So yes we are very much budget travellers and trust me, we always have loads of fun travelling with each other.

Travelling after being married sure brings a whole meaning of maturity i must say. For a start, A is a heavy packer whereas i pack so light i would usually end up wearing A's clothes, and this happens all the time.

And he LOVES to research and really dig all holes to find whatever he needs and wants to, which really, i dont have an interest on.
So i will always be surprised to see him bring along like 17pages of research stuffs on where to eat and where to shop and where to walk. Amazing man you. And on the other hand, i will complain and complain about walking too much, or eating too little or shopping for same stuff.
But deep inside i just want to jump on him like a koala bear and kiss him all over for being so thoughtful and clever to sort all that out, because i wouldnt, nope.

So, yes. I would suggest couples out there to always make a plan to travel with each other every few months or so. Dekat dekat pun jadilah. You know i do realise in this time and age, We all get to worked up on our daily lives that sometimes, a 4days trip somewhere out really gives us a chance to rekindle our love for our partner. Never stop dating each other. Never stop fighting for each other and never stop making effort for each other.  Sometimes time is all one need. And i promise A that no matter how busy i get, i will always always have time for him. He is afterall my big baby. Ok meluat. Bye!

Hi all! I have just realised that my blog had over 29,000 readers thus far and wow, just wow. So well initially this was just going to be a wedding blog where i could rant what nots for the wedding preps and such. But ey, since this is already up, i might as well use this as a platform for everything and anything else.

For a start, i am still enjoying being married to the love of my life. Marriage has definitely made me more grown up, you know what i mean la kan. It has been a roller coaster ride as well, will share more in another post. In e meantime, i do hope to get my readers back!

1 month Hiatus. And I am sincerely sorry. 

I have been tooo busy with the wedding preps and work and family.
I can't even start how many emails I have received for updates and suggestions and what not.
So I guess I will use my Sunday PH time at work today and blog like there's no tmr.

For a start, I will be continuing the 20 random qns.
I also do have a couple of requests on Hantaran gifts on a budget and also a few others that I will try to squeeze in whatever info I have.

I can't thank all of you enough for being an avid reader and always asking me for updates and suggestions, I feel like I have known some of you a whole lot more, even when we have not met and such!

So let's have our very own mini countdown and treasure the days of preps and stresses because I am sure we will miss all of this the second we are passed the phase. Haha.

I can't tell you enough how much effort I have put into the preparations of my wedding.
It has been a long time coming, honestly.
Like Aidil told me yesterday, 'Banyak sangat dugaan kite, terlalu banyak'.

It's true, I won;t deny any bit of it.
Every thing that we could possibly face, we have.
But after all these years, here we are, planning it all over again.
And I won't say that I have low hopes or I da tawar hati or any of that such.
The joy of planning and arranging still felt like the first time I did it a few years back.

So if you had follow my posts from the start, you would known that I have shared the venues, themes, colours, make up, deco, outfits, dulang hantaran, photography, videography and much more i think.

So today, let me share a bit with you on buying the hantaran gifts on a budget.

When I say budget, I don't mean buying things just for the sake of buying/ OR buying because it's cheap.
Like I always stressed to you guys, Why spent more on something when you can get the same 1 at half the price?

So for those of you guys who are looking at buying the exchange of gifts but would like to explore your choices for spending, I have just the right contents for you.

But for a start, let me do a few '20qns'.

DIY your wedding away!

As you all might know, I am a sucker for anything DIY. And i try to do things that I know I am capable of. Mainly because I don't believe in spending money unnecessarily, except for food. :)

So as I was browsing my wedding itinerary, I thought for a second and got all excited.

Maybe I should DIY my bunga telur!

You know, the individual sticks where usually its just some ugly glitter2 manik2, fake and hard thingy, something like this,

Eww. sungguh aku tak berkenan. very makcik2 you know.

So I was thinking of smtg easy. Either way I dont think I really have to make a lot of Bunga Telur right? usually 1 stand can fit 40-50sticks. so usually on the dais itself there will be 2 stands on either side of the couple, so tt makes it 100 sticks.

FAIR ENOUGH.

So a few came into my mind. Stuffs like origami, felt paper, fabric flowers, paper flowers.
And when I reached paper flowers, suddenly Flower Pompoms came right in.

FLOWER POMPOMS are perfect!

They're cheap. The tissue paper can be purchased over at Ikea, or Art Friend n some old old stationery shops. And they're pretty cheap.
Alternatively, i can get the ones at Daiso but they usually runs out fast.
Crepe paper is fine too, and it costs like 70cents per packet. i can make around 10 medium pompoms with just 1 packet of crepe paper.

So the ideas are running wild. Kalau boleh itu jam jugak nak pergi mustapha beli and straight away buat. Haha.

But i figured, i could prolly finish all 100 sticks in 1 weekend when Im working since theres really nthg to do.

So, basically I will provide you with an illustration on how to DIY your own Bunga Telur by using Flower PomPoms.

You will need:

Crepe paper/coloured tissue paper

fabric wire

scissors

satay sticks

nets (to place the egg in) you can get this over in JB, they're selling them at 100pcs for RM8. very very cheap. 

glue gun or super glue if you dont have one. 

white tape

bunga telur stand (advisable to have 2 over both left n right, having just 1 looks funny, i think)

pretty easy and cheap items right? So of course, you need to be very patient with the doing of the Pompoms. I didnt get it the first time its quite a challenge because of the poofing and layering. but you'll get to it, eventually. :)

Below are illustrations on how you make the Pompoms. Pretty straight forward. Suggest that you try out with a crepe paper instead. 

 Take note: The lesser the diameter of the folds, the poofer your pompoms will be. 

You catching up? Pretty simple right. 

The next few steps are the most important ones because this involves the poofing of your pompom. 

You need to be extra careful wth tissue papers because they tears easy. 

As for crepe papers, you need to have thinner folds because crepe's usually wont have the volume. 

Thus thinner folds means fuller pompoms. :)

When you're done poofing all the layers all around, it will look like this. 

You can continue doing more individual pompoms but i prefer completing it by sets. 

So, I will finish this off by adding the satay stick, and then the net. :)

Poofing the layers can get pretty tiring. :(

But the results are just sooo pretty. 

Do play with colours. 

When you're done, your flower pompom/bunga telur will look like this individually

You can add labels, like the one above, or ribbons. Whatever you like ya? 

So now you can just purchase those Bunga Telur stands, usually comes in gold or silver. And the're really cheap in JB (RM15/stand) or here in SG ($10/stand).

NOW you can do the honors of sticking in the individual pompoms into the holes provided. Like mentioned, per stand would usually hold 40-50 bunga telur. 

End products would look like this. 

Remember when I say to play with colours? THIS is why. 

Since I am follwing my colour theme for the bunga telur, I had Seni Qanasuri as reference. 

I don't think I can go wrong with pastel pink and tiff blue.

like i mentioned earlier, i can sense when someone is lying. on second thoughts, maybe these people i'm surrounded with are just bad liars. or i'm just clever tt way.

not good good. but im not the worst.

yes! this 1 i have to brag. i am actually quite good. i would say above average.

artists as in draw draw paint paint ah? hmm. ok lah. i can draw a decent picture.

sometimes. not all the time. i have my bad days.

not really. but when i did my health education courses over my job stint as an industrial nurse, i was pretty good. i mean that was what my HSE manager told me lah

with kids ah? depends really. i am not shallow but i am better with infants then with toddlers. so i guess, yes?

32) Are you a good mechanic?
haha. THIS i know. NO I AM NOT A GOOD MECHANIC

don't know. maybe not. i am never into laws and politics. tak minat.

34) Are you a good employee?
ahhhh. i just had this convo with aidil a few days ago. my motto simple. you pay me late, i come work late. you pay me on time, i will be the best employee you've ever had.

35) Are you a good dresser?
i would say yes. i am quite into fashion. not high end fashion. i know how to coordinate. and i am awesome at mixing and matching.

36) Are you a good swimmer?
olympic/competitive good? NO.
casual YES. I can swim.

37) Are you a good skier?
havent tried skiing yet.

38) Are you a good lover?
ask Aidil ah. he's still with me no matter how rough or loud i get, so i guess that makes me a good lover. because despite all that, he knows i am worth more than just being rough and bising, membebel, nagging 24/7. HEH.

39) Are you a good musician?
i can play the piano and keyboard. but sadly, i find it difficult coordinating myself singing and playing at the same time. and because of that. no i dun think i am a good musician.

40) Are you a good comedian?
I can make people laugh. I have good jokes. :)

The rights of a Muslim wife.

According to Islam, a woman is not required to work in order to earn her living. Her husband is responsible to ensure a decent standard of living for her, according to his means.
Even when a woman is richer than her husband, her wealth does not deprive her of her right to be supported by him.
If he takes advantage of her wealth in order to leave his duty unfulfilled, without having first secured her consent to this arrangement, then he is accountable for his misdeed.
It is open to her to seek divorce on grounds of her not being supported by her husband.
An Islamic court will have no hesitation to issue an order nullifying the marriage if the husband will not honour his responsibility.
It may be useful to add here that an unmarried woman also does not need to work for her living. She is entitled to be supported by her parents or her immediate relatives, such as her brothers. However, if a woman decides to work, Islam does not stop her from doing so.
It is important to know what rights and duties become applicable when a woman takes up employment. It is common knowledge that Islam considers a woman equal to man with regard to the rights of ownership and disposal of property as well as conducting her own business transactions and commercial dealings.Therefore, when a woman earns something from her work, her earnings belong totally to her. If she is unmarried, her father cannot claim her earnings as his own.
Similarly, a woman’s husband cannot put any claim to her earnings. It may be suggested here that when a married woman goes out to work, she leaves her household duties unattended. Therefore, the husband is entitled, or so it is claimed, at least to a share of the salary or earnings of his wife.

We have to examine this argument a little more carefully.The duties of a wife toward her husband, according to Islamic law, are well defined. They do not include doing any cleaning, ironing, cooking or any other household work.
Marriage is a contractual relationship which allows a man and woman to fulfil their desire in a legitimate way. If a woman takes an undertaking which prevents her from meeting that responsibility, then her husband has the right to prevent that undertaking.

Someone may ask at this point:
Who is then to do the housework?
The answer is twofold:
If we are speaking strictly from the points of view of rights and duties, it is not the duty of the woman to do the housework in her husband’s home. If he wants that work done, he has to see to it that it is done.
Life is not all about rights and duties. There is much more in the marital relationship than duties and rights. There is what Islam terms “companionship based on goodwill”. It is under this heading that he duties and responsibilities of the family are divided between the husband and wife. When we ask for guidelines on this particular point, they are readily available.

At a certain stage, there was some disagreement between Fatimah, the Prophet’s daughter and her husband, Ali who was the Prophet’s cousin. They presented their case before him, requesting him to define their responsibilities for them. The Prophet (Pbuh) said to his daughter; “You do the work that must be done inside the home, and he does what needs to be done outside.” This division of the family work is both fair and practical.What we may deduce from all this is that if a woman does not do the work that has to be done inside the family home, she fails in meeting the requirement of companionship and goodwill. It is open to her husband to divorce her if she persistently refuses to do it. She may argue there it is much more to family life than strict duties.When a woman wants to go out to work, her husband may prevent her from doing so if he feels that her job will seriously affect the family, especially with regard to the upbringing of the children. However, if she was working when they got married, and he has not indicated to her at the time of his proposal that he wants her to quit her job, this is taken as consent on his part to her working. He may not withdraw that consent after marriage. It is not open to him then to ask her to leave her job. If she refuses, she is within her rights. This is absolutely fair, because the fact that he has not made his intention clear to her about her continued working is regarded as agreement to the situation which obtained before their marriage. As for the salary she receives from her work, or indeed her earnings, these belong to her. She may determine how she uses her income. If she wants to help her own family with part or all of her income, she is only being dutiful and she will be rewarded by Allah for being so. The husband cannot take advantage of his wife. To claim that what she earns belongs to him is absolutely unjust. He cannot justify if in any way. If she does not agree to give it to him, he is taking it unlawfully. He may not treat it as his own money. He must obtain her permission before taking it. If she does not give him that permission, he must not touch it.

Some people may suggest that since both husband and wife are working, they should share the family expenses. The answer to this suggestion is that this is possible only by mutual agreement. What we have to understand is that the husband has no rightful claim to what his wife may earn or own.

If she willingly gives him something of it, he is welcome to have it.
If she refuses, he has no claim to it.
If he hustles or pressures or cajoles her in order to obtain something from her, he is taking it unjustly and he will be punished by Allah for doing so.

Ok so for the last entry tonight, I figured i should just do it simple.
No guides, no nothing, just illustrations.
It's basic, and simple and doesnt require much Moolahs. (tu yg paling sangat2 impt right)
Per dulang would cost around RM38 (that is if you're purchasing the items at JB lah, if kalau nak buy at Spore, might as well get people to do it for you.

If you don't mind parting with $25-$30/tray for your dulang gifts, I recommend you to try Ola Lola or Our Midas Touch, because their trays are sungguh sungguh lawa!

SIMPLE?

Ok after wrapping the sponge lining to your strofoam pieces, choose ANY fabric that you think would suit your theme.

But please take note, keep the designs on the minimal, you wouldn't wanna go noisy on the prints. 

As for me, I am using a kain songket, those cheap ones lah. Not for making baju nye, 1 metre should cost around $8 max. and for 10 trays, you would need around 6metres. 

one thing to take note also, AVOID using those satin fabrics or those lembut2 nye, because you do need to create a rough surface so that the items and your trays are more in place. 

mampos nanti pakai satin hancur all jatuh. da 1 story. So avoid if possible :)

When you're done, almost!, get these brooches, theres a lot of designs at Arab St and they sell by 10pieces/packet. Per piece cost around $1.20. Its quite pricey but its nice kannn. use the glue gun and attach these brooches (without the pin though) to the 4 corners of the foam.

Almost done!

for the trays, you can use these curved, carved trays and place it on top. note to put some glue below it, because it has a smooth surface below, it wont be difficult to remove it later. 

Alternatively, you can always place those wooden carved trays. something like this and just place it on top of the foam.

However, if you want smtg traditional, you can always go with the aluminium stands and place it below the foam itself. 

 now, you're actually done. 

You only need to place the wooden box on the foam or those curved metal dishes, place your gifts in it. and VOILA!

BUT it looks too simple kan? Maybe add some floral arrangements? 

CANNNNN. 

go Daiso buy those $2 stalks. 1 dulang maybe around 3 stalks. those huge huge roses tauuu. just use like the metal wires and poke it into the foam. very simple.
