I was prolly too excited to jump straight to the VENUE.
of course there were many other things that you need to think about before choosing the venue of your wedding.
This will be a very lengthy post, i can feel it because the ideas just start pouring in. but like i said 2 posts before, this is ALL about SHARING.
1. Hantaran, Mahar, Registration for Nikah, Kursus Rumahtangga
- Hantaran
Some people think this is a very very very (I have to stress it enough) VERY sensitive topic.
But seriously, I wouldn't want to think so.
Because some people think that's the worth/value of the bride. Some say depends on her educational/work status and blablabla.
Really?
Like that Singapore Malay girls not too expensive. Hantaran SGD$20,000 in Singapore considered VERY GOOD already.
Technically, $20,000 is a lot of money la. But for it to be comprehended as the 'value of the girl'?
I don't think so.
So really, like my mum said, hantaran is actually the money the Groom would 'give' the bride's family for the Bride to hold the wedding.
But now where got like that? We girls have to save more and maybe more or less the same as of the Groom's.
Correct me if I'm wrong.
So, maybe to just set things straight, no pun intended, hantaran these days usually is agreed upon by the Bride & Groom. So for now, I guess the market is $10,000?
But then again, ikut la kemampuan si lelaki. if lebih better la, if lesser pun tak apa. tapi it's solely my opinion ah.
I'm not so hard up about the hantaran. NOT because I think less of myself or my 'value',
but i don't think 'money' is the indicator here.
- Mahar & Registering for Solemnization
http://app.romm.gov.sg/index.asp
Do take your time to read the information. Everything you need to know should definitely be all there. If in doubt, do ask. Ask the makcik makcik pakcik pakcik. Or even your friends yg baru kawin and stuffs. Of course jgn lah tanya org yg da kawin for 50years. The prices and all are probably different.
And the choosing of your "Kadi', who by right is the man of the match. Haha. Ask around, know more about the style of the kadi, cause some kadi's are very particular about some stuffs, So ya. :)
Ouh and yes, duit penat dgn transport Kadi kene la kasi Kadi sendiri ya. It's not included in the registration amount or whatever. So ikut kemampuan, dan jgn la lokek. From what i know, the minimum rate now is $150. Some gives $300. Nak kasi $1000 pun boleh, nanti Kadi tanya biler nak kawin lagi? hah.
Ok moving on.
- Kursus Rumahtangga
There are a few organisations here that does pre-marriage courses. And you have the alternatives to choose how you would like to do it. Because going for this course bukan setakat nak dpt kan cert kalau tak tak boleh kawin, it's a programme where it enlightens you and your partner to the marriage world. knowing your rights as a wife. Apa itu dosa. Apa itu pahala. What are the rights the husband have on you and vice versa.
And also, you can chose whether you nak do it kat masjid, library, centres because ya lah for those yg tak berhijab, kalau go masjid one has to wear tudung. and it's in Malay. Some who prefers to have it in English, pun boleh, tak salah, whatever you comprehend better in, do it. Because some org2 tua would comment, 'huh... pergi orang puteh nye, kan lain, cakap melayu kan lain. kalau org putih cakap 'you good wife', org melayu cakap 'awak isteri yang solehah', kan lagi sedap didengar.
haizz. Pandai2 la eh.
Anyhows! Below are the 4 Pre-marriage courses and organisations that i know of.
Again, ask around. Jgn malu2. :)

They hold classes in Masjids and in CC's. Available in English & Malay.

So there you go, once the Hantaran has been agreed by both families, Mahar has been decided, knowing when is the earliest date you can register and also, having the Kursus rumahtangga already booked, here comes the FUN PART.
This is where you tell your BFF's, your family, your kawan lama, your ex, your neighbours, your enemies and also make it known in FB,
I'm getting married ya'll!
Chill. The easy part was over.
Now get your Planner ready. Make sure it's a pretty and lasting one because trust me, you would want to carry that in your bag most of the time. :)
Because I did. And i LOVE it! Mine is Turquoise, with hot pink fonts and details and all pastels and pretty and ya.
